Butler AI ("Butler," "we," "us," or "our") operates an SMS-based kids activity recommendation service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

1. Information We Collect

When you sign up and use Butler, we collect the following information:

• Phone number — required to send and receive SMS messages
• ZIP code or neighborhood — used to find activities near you
• Children's ages — used to recommend age-appropriate activities
• Children's interests — used to personalize activity recommendations
• Your feedback — reactions (likes and skips) you send in response to recommendations
• Message content — text messages you send to Butler for processing requests

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Send you personalized kids activity recommendations via SMS
• Improve recommendation quality based on your feedback and preferences
• Respond to your questions and requests sent via text message
• Communicate service updates and important notifications
• Analyze aggregate, anonymized usage patterns to improve our service

3. Children's Privacy

Butler is a service for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. The information we collect about children (ages and interests) is provided by their parent or guardian and is used solely to personalize activity recommendations.

We do not sell, rent, or share children's information with third parties for marketing purposes. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Butler:

• Twilio — to send and receive SMS messages. Twilio processes your phone number and message content. See Twilio's Privacy Policy.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — to host our application and store data securely. See AWS Privacy Policy.
• AI service providers — we use artificial intelligence services (including Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI) to find and personalize activity recommendations. These services process anonymized or pseudonymized data and do not receive your phone number.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the United States. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our service. If you unsubscribe (by replying STOP), we will retain your data for up to 30 days to process the request, after which it will be deleted.

You may request immediate deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

7. SMS and Messaging

By providing your phone number and signing up for Butler, you consent to receive recurring automated SMS messages from us. Message frequency varies but is typically every other day. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier plan.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal information — text us "my data" to receive a summary
• Correct your information — text us to update your ZIP code, children's ages, or interests at any time
• Delete your information — contact us to request complete deletion of your data
• Opt out of messages — reply STOP at any time

9. California Residents

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via SMS before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Butler after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
